New Desert Plein Air Exhibition at La Quinta Community Gallery Features Six Local Artists.
For more than 125 years plein air painters have been coming to the desert to capture the incredible effect of the light on the landscape. The artists who set their easels on the sand depict the desert in distinctive and innovative ways, revealing new perspectives and demonstrating that impressionism is alive and well in the Coachella Valley. Painting en plein air (in the open air) is a style of painting that allows artists to capture the spirit and essence of a landscape or subject by incorporating natural light, color and movement into their works.
