This is a don’t miss event for the Coachella Valley celebrating the design and flair of the mid-century modern style that put this beautiful Desert Community on the map.
Modernism Week 2023 is an 11 day event with over 350 events including the Palm Springs Modernism Show. Tour iconic homes in more than 30 neighborhoods and don’t miss the popular Signature Home Tour on both weekends
Events this year during Modernism Week 2023 feature architectural walking, biking and double-decker bus tours, tours of the historic Annenberg Estate at Sunnylands, a classic car show, garden tours, nightly parties, and a special series of compelling and informative talks. All events are open to the public.
The Palm Springs Modernism Show at the Palm Springs Convention Center will feature 120 dealers showcasing the best of both the 20th and 21st century design. Fine art, and vintage furniture reflecting all design movements of the 20th century emphasising mid-century modern.
Asian Influence on Mid-Century Modernism
An often forgotten fact is the influence that Japanese design and architecture had on Modernism. CAMP Theater in the Hyatt Palm Springs will have a lecture on the Stories Untold – learn about the Asian American Architects who helped shape mid-century Southern California and Midcentury Modernism during Modernism Week 2023.
The Architecture of Suspense – Christine Madrid French, at the Annenberg Theater in the Palm Springs Art Museum, explores Alfred Hitchcock’s influence as a Director and Architect using buildings as a character in his most popular movies.
Frank Lloyd Wright and Global Modernism – The Frank Lloyd Wright Foundation at the Annenberg Theater examines his pivotal role in the development of modern architectural design in the 20th century and the ongoing relevance today.
